For fifty years, Moore’s Law drove us into a relentless race: more power, more hardware, more consumption. And software followed the same trend — becoming heavier and more resource-hungry.

Today, that law is reaching its limit. And that’s a good thing, because there’s another way forward: the EROOM methodology — Moore in reverse.

If we regularly optimize our software, we can double the available computing power without changing the hardware.

EROOM means:

  • Reducing the environmental footprint of digital systems through software sobriety,

  • Unlocking innovation capacity without exploding costs,

  • Giving developers back the pride of building elegant and efficient software.

With EROOM, you gain access to a methodology and an open toolbox of shared resources, published under the CC BY-SA 4.0 license — enabling us to move collectively from idea to action.

An Open and Evolving Approach

EROOM is an open-source digital common, developed iteratively and collectively within the Boavizta community.

The project evolves continuously, improves with every meeting, and grows richer thanks to volunteer contributions.
